a designer newby... So pardon me for these messy words

Even though I've been designing dresses and ensembles for almost two years I still haven't achieved one thing - And that is to sew...
Put a sewing machine in front of me and I wouldn't know what to do with it! Forget about doing patterns or anything else - all I can do is design!
And take pictures... And write... And dance... And sing...

That's why I have a tremendous respect for young, up-and coming designers and seamstresses (what's the right term?)... It's a hard job but someones go to do it...
and I love fashion ( is there such a thing?)... Even though I dress like a bum/bohemian/streetser/indie/hippie/hip-hopper/thrifter - I abso-*uckin_lutely adore fashion ... or style really... I love vintage and used... Unique pieces that have characture and history - a personality of their own - not mass-produced (even though I fall into that hole as well)

I don't see fashion as something only the elite know.. I think we all dictate what path fashion goes or takes.. It used to be the fashion houses that decided what was hot or not - Now it's the streets... Haute Couture is following trends that city people make and come up with... Which is maybe why a bit of the oldn glamour and chicness has faded... The days when Coco Chanel was revolutionary are gone... It's almost as though designers/stylemakers have lost their balls and guts.. They are shy and timid... They do the same thing over and over instead of doing something remarkable and unseen... They've become copy-cats...

Now settle down - I'm merely generalizing...

There are those brave ones out there... And they deserve an applaude for taking risks and seeing face-to-face... Those that are stuck in a rut ususally tend to pick themselves up and find their way back. We should all thank them and be grateful - but still try to make our own style and fashion - one that suites only one - yourself
